If you have been quoted wildly different prices for UGC and cannot work out which one is fair, you are not alone. So let me answer the question most brands are too polite to ask outright: how much does UGC cost in the UK, and what are you actually paying for? The short version is that a single user-generated video usually lands somewhere between £50 and £250, and the gap between those two numbers has almost nothing to do with how good the content is.
I film, edit and deliver every project myself, so I price my own work every week. Here is the honest breakdown, minus the mystery.
What you are actually paying for.
This is where most of the confusion starts. There are two very different things a creator can sell you, and they cost different amounts for good reason.
An influencer is paid to post to their own audience. You are buying their reach, so their follower count sets the price. UGC is different. You pay a creator to make content that you post, on your own feed and your own ads. There is no audience to rent, so follower count does not come into it at all. As the UK research firm Whito puts it in its 2026 rates report, with UGC “you are buying the content, not an audience.” That single distinction is why a UGC video from a creator with 3,000 followers can cost the same as one from a creator with 300,000. You are paying for the craft, not the crowd.
The going rate in 2026.
So what does UGC cost in the UK right now? Whito’s original UK data puts a single UGC video at roughly £50 to £250, with no follower premium attached. That tracks with what I see across the market. Globally, the picture is the same shape: Billo’s 2026 rates data anchors the average short-form asset at around $200, with entry-level creators nearer $50 to $100 and established ones charging $500 and up before any usage rights are added.
Where does the range come from? A few honest things. A creator three months into the job with a thin portfolio will sit at the bottom. Someone who can show you conversion data and a shelf of past work sits at the top. And format matters too: a short-form video with a hook, voiceover, captions and a trending sound takes real time to make, so it runs 25 to 50% above a flat photo. None of that is padding. It is the difference between a clip that gets scrolled past and one that holds a viewer to the end.
What quietly pushes the price up.
Here is the part that catches brands out. The base rate is only half the quote. The other half is usage rights, and it is the single biggest lever on the final number.
If you want to run my video as a paid ad, or keep using it for a year, or own it outright forever, that costs more than a one-off organic post, because you are getting far more value from it. Billo’s data is blunt about this: licensing and running content from a creator’s handle “can easily double or triple costs.” That is not a creator being greedy. A £150 video that quietly powers your Meta ads for twelve months is doing a completely different job than one that lives on your grid for a week.
The other things that move a quote: a rush turnaround, a stack of revisions, and complexity like a detailed script or a proper product demo. My advice, whoever you hire, is to agree the usage window up front. Thirty, sixty or ninety days keeps costs down if you only need a short campaign. A full buyout costs more but you never think about it again. Decide which you actually need before you brief, and you will never be surprised by a quote.
Why the cheapest option rarely is.
I will always be straight with you: you can find UGC for £30. Sometimes it is brilliant. Often you get a shaky clip with a weak hook that no amount of ad spend can rescue, and you end up paying twice, once for the cheap video and again for the reshoot. The saving disappears fast.
The better way to think about it is cost per usable asset. Three strong videos you can actually run beat ten cheap ones you quietly bin. That is also why I often suggest testing a few angles at once rather than betting everything on one perfect clip, because you learn what your audience responds to and the good ones earn their keep across every channel.
How I price my own work.
No hidden fees, no reach markup, no surprises. I quote a clear rate per video, tell you exactly what usage is included, and handle the whole thing end to end: filming, editing, hooks, captions, delivered ready to post. If you need three cuts of one shoot for TikTok, Reels and your ads, I will bundle it so the per-video price comes down. If you only need one, that is fine too.
The goal is content that feels like a friend’s recommendation, priced like a straight answer. If you want to know what a project would actually cost for your brand, have a look at my packages or email me at [email protected] and I will send you a proper quote, usage included, no guesswork.
